Dunedin all around

Victoria Road, with the beach a stone's throw away.

Tahuna Park racecourse.

The sandy steps of St Kilda.

A very nice man and his well-behaved companion. Early morning up in Opoho Park.

View to the harbour and peninsula.

Down in the Brighton schoolyard: what a place for a typo.

Heading for the surf...

Keep walking and the trees will lead you to the Upper Botanic Gardens.

Ocean Beach, with Forbury Hill in the distance.

The wild back section.

Buildings before the ocean.

Early morning in the park.

  1. Anthony: In addition to being an inspiration (I've been walking a mile [almost] every day for the last 2 weeks) you are a heck of a photographer. The NZ travel board should be buying up your photos.

  2. Thanks, Aaron! Hmmm, the "NZ travel board"... I'm not so sure my pictures on here would help to draw tourists. The subjects and scenes are very ordinary; mundane I suppose.. but I see them a certain way. I have a lot of affection for this city, but it's a quiet affection, without the razzmatazz tourists and visitors might expect.. Cheers.

  3. Juwp isn't a typo, it's a new way of dancing involving sticks and cabbages. Very interesting. I'll demonstrate it next time I'm down.

  4. Now, I said "typo" in order to be polite. The original caption had some unflattering things to say about the spelling ability of the average schoolteacher. I don't know what came over me, but I downgraded the crime to "typo" and didn't mention schoolteachers at all.

  5. Gina, by the way... Remember when you sent me a text message one morning over two weeks ago -- and I replied that I was at the Tahuna Park racecourse? That was right about when I made that photograph here.

  6. There is a flaw in your logic. School teachers do not paint the playground floor, the caretakers do. I can spell and I am a school teacher, or once was. Therefore your assertion becomes a meaningless generalisation. Besides, I don't have a beard, a gold tooth and I don't wear sandals and thick socks up to my knees. Not every day anyway.

  7. The pictures make me too sad not to be living in Dunedin.
